WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS

A fair process starts with an open mind

When a workplace concern requires formal examination, the process matters as much as the report. People need to understand what is being considered, have a meaningful opportunity to respond and know that the evidence will be assessed without a predetermined outcome.

Equilibrium provides independent workplace investigation services with an emphasis on clear scope, respectful communication and reasoned findings.

Clear terms from the outset

Before accepting an appointment, we consider potential conflicts of interest and whether the work is within our scope. We agree the terms of reference, reporting arrangements and the respective responsibilities of the investigator and the organisation.

Careful examination of the evidence

Depending on the agreed scope, an investigation may include reviewing documents, interviewing relevant people and considering responses to the matters raised. We distinguish what is alleged, what is supported by the available information and where uncertainty remains.

The report explains the evidence considered and the reasoning behind findings. Employment decisions remain with the authorised decision-maker unless a different lawful role is expressly agreed.

Respectful does not mean predetermined

An investigation is not advocacy for either side and does not promise a particular outcome. Information is handled carefully, but relevant material may need to be shared to support a fair process or meet applicable obligations. We explain those limits rather than promise absolute confidentiality.
